Music Translation 101

Curious about music translation but unsure where to start? Have you started, but gotten stuck on the "what does this even mean?" Look no further! This 101 workshop will cover the basics of analyzing music and lyrics so that you have a solid concept of what to look for and how to make the style choices you want to make. 

Class Summary

This workshop brings you into the world of music translation and helps you build a foundation for your work. We will discuss the basics of translation and how we can apply these basics to real world scenarios, as well as various modalities.

Learning Objectives

Learning Objectives:
  • Identify different aspects of music that affect translation of the material
  • Explain a larger perspective on music translation that incorporates understanding beyond English and ASL video 
  • Build capability for research and analysis of song lyrics
  • Define key components of translation and how it will affect their expression of the content material in ASL

Vancro Integrated Interpreting Services (VIIS) is an approved RID CMP sponsor for continuing education activities.

This workshop is offered for 0.2 CEUs in the Professional Studies area at the "little to no" content knowledge level.

Participants will receive a certificate of attendance. The target audience for this activity is: all interpreters. As always, VIIS is committed to offering educational opportunities free from discrimination and bias.
